Rob! Check out Torque Test Channel on US-first! They ran a test on 1/4" 3/8" and 1/2" air hose. You NEED to be running 3/8" minimum, even at shorter 25' hose runs. I'll include a link below.

@Rob Dahm You should definitely look into an air dryer because you really don't want any moisture getting into your Haas. Where I work I have 2 5axis Hurco mills and 1 4axis SMEC lathe our compressor for all 3 machines has a air dryer. Any moisture can corrode solenoids for tool changer, spindle, etc. so to save yourself future headaches I would get a air dryer.

Hey you were mentioned in drama alert for having your account hacked and had a videos description changed
Jack Magnium

the issue is the launch on your car is way too much for the rim and tire combo you currently have. my best advice is to get a set of beadlocks(it may just spin but i really dont know) 4 rotor the reason i say launch is because the way your 4 rotor is reacting. the reason why your car is spinning the rim inside the tire is your car has way too high of a launch speed(or the cars reaction time for power delivery). the hoonicorn is a different story as it has a more linear launch speed and keeps it planted without spinning the rims inside the wheels. like i said get a set of size matched beadlocks and that solves the issue. hopefully

Whenever I leaving something like that air separater sticking way out into open space in my shop & don’t protect it with a cage or guardrail, it get snapped off. Mainly because I’m an idiot. I see you’re storing t gallon buckets in that area, so please be careful not to swing one the wrong direction & take that unit out. Btw - so jealous of that compressor! So quiet! When mine goes off at night it’s loud enough to wake to up everyone in the house. Not fun to have a bleary eyed woman staring at you with murder on her mind. Just try sleeping knowing she’s laying right next to you still pissed off. I’m old enough to remember Lorena Bobbit.

welcome to the world of shop air and proper pressure. run a line in your shop to hose reels and build an enclosure for the compressor to cut down on noise even more i built my own shop compressor out of bits and parts over a few years as i didnt have the cash to buy a compressor like that nice job though

1. I’m happy you mentioned draining the tank. Drain/depressurize the tank every time you close up shop. I saw a disturbing video of the remains of someone’s air compressor after it exploded due to the tank being weakened by rust. 2. Look up Alec Steele on US-first. He piped compressed air around his shop using nylon tube of some sort. Seems like a good idea for you to do to give each of your tools compressed air as well as a couple of ports to connect hoses to so you don’t drag them across your shop. PS: thanks for a “short” video. I’ve been frustrated trying to find time to sit and watch your last two videos since they’re both over a half hour. Awesome stuff, tho, and they deserved the time they got. Keep it up!

Get an electrician to drop in a line in a far corner (maybe by the office space) when he puts in a separate breaker for it. Then, invest in some 2x4s and some cement board and a sturdy door to build an enclosure for you air compressor; maybe use the corner right next to the office so the enclosure could also contain that AC unit. And get some air piping run around the shop. You don't need to go full 'Keith Rucker Vintage Machinery' with your build, but maybe watch his recent video on the subject to see how far you could go.

Wait hang on is 1/4” traditional? Everything I use is 1/2” and the plumbing in my shop is 1” to every hose end 😬😂. In my opinion rob don’t limit the output of the air compressor with the air hose. Maybe not right now but eventually you might want the air flow of the entire 17 cfh

Get a pressure regulator/filter; after a decade as a tool repair guy, I can tell you; two of the main causes of tool failure is lack of tool oil/maintenance and overpressure in air lines. Most air tools are Not designed for pressure above 100psi; it provides zero benifits and even if they operate you are damaging internal components. I know many people assume higher pressure = more good, but it doesn't work that way. One, that pressure change is miniscule compare to the kind of jump that would provide an effect, two the design and materials of the tool affect output more. Just leave the pressure within the design range. Ask an actual air tool repair pro. (Not sales; they don't have any experience or contacts for this) There are usually several other possible ways to adjust without trying the one thing that probably won't work anyway. The number of framing nailers we saw from truss & frame plants that had beaten themselves apart just because some idiot thought he knew better..... Also, fit that water trap/dessicant trap to a wall mount W a run of hose; the vibration & extension off the tank isn't good. A great way to get better water trappage is to add 15-30 feet of hose, just coiled up, between the tank outlet & the filter unit to allow the air to cool & water to condense before hitting the filter/ water trap. If water gets caught in the hose, all the better; bubbling thru other water will cool it quicker. In Aus we have at least one brand with a new model of screw compressor; about the size of the models Rob replaced in this vid; if we have them, you do! Super quiet, 300cfm output... Easily replace that new one with something even better in an even smaller package. If he thinks this new one is quiet, he should check out one of those!

Stop freaking about standing in front of fittings while opening it. He used brass fittings with well cut threads that showed through the excessive thread tape, and engaged the threads properly to a very firm hand fit. When he did open the tap, he did so slowly, to prevent shock loading. You watched it all happen. Those aside from a dozen other factors. Yes, I do know; I worked at an air compressor repair shop for near a decade. I've experienced that kind of failure.

Upgraded to a screw or scroll compressor for my shop. The difference is amazing! The sound level is way way lower and it produces more air for the same power. Best upgrade ever. I have fitted an air ring main with a dryer and service point outlets. Plasma cutter so much happier with clean dry air.

you should probably put a regulator on that outlet. if you're going to be running air tools, they need a specific cfm or psi. right now you're just getting tank pressure.
